Villa Oppi has a rich history dating back nearly 2000 years, beginning as an ancient Roman post station along the historic Via Emilia, strategically located between Piacenza and Parma. Originally serving as a rest stop for travelers, the estate became known for producing wine, its primary source of income. The property gained prominence in the early 19th century when Marie Louise of Austria, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza, purchased the estate, enhancing its agricultural significance. Under her guidance, Villa Oppi became the first estate in Italy to produce a Bordeaux-style wine in 1820.
Today, Villa Oppi has evolved into the Villa Oppi Wine Group, managing 15 wineries across Italy. We are proud to continue this legacy of innovation and quality, producing a wide range of premium wines that reflect the diversity of Italy’s most important wine regions.
