Montechiaro is a historic estate owned by the Griccioli family since 1760, situated in the heart of the Sienese hills. Under the stewardship of Alessandro, the latest generation, the estate has undergone a sustainable and organic transformation aimed at enhancing its rich ampelographic heritage of indigenous grape varieties and the marine terroir of the Sienese hills. Our organic philosophy emphasizes soil balance, cover cropping, a vibrant ecosystem, and integrated pest management. In our 19th-century cellar, we use historic cement and steel vats and adhere to a strict protocol to minimize the use of sulfites. We utilize custom steam-toasted barrels sourced from individual French forests. The estate offers integrated hospitality with six rental villas, each featuring a private pool, and experiences centered around wine, nature, and food, such as tastings, cooking classes, truffle hunting, and horse riding.
