Faithful to tradition, but also with a curious spirit!
There have always been vineyards around the monastery for the production of wine for liturgical needs, but due to the wish of Bishop Ignatius of Braničevo to share the fruit of the natural beauty of this region with others, the production was expanded for a wider audience as well.
The vineyard and winery are part of the Koporin monastery, Braničevo eparchy. The vineyard itself was planted in 2011 and covers 4 hectares. Present varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Prokupac, Tamjanika, Rhine Riesling and Italian Riesling. Another vineyard was planted in 2017, on an area of 2 hectare with Cabernet Franc, Tamjanika and Pinot Noir varieties. The Koporin Monastery with the Church of Saint Stephen is an Orthodox monastery that belongs to the Braničevo Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It is located on the outskirts of the sprawling urban settlement of Velika Plana at the border zone with Smederevska Palanka.
