Winery Description:
Tenuta La Viola is a historic winery in Romagna. The Gabellini family has been running it since 1962, when they reached the hills of Bertinoro to cultivate vines.
Today the estate is run by Stefano and his mother Lidia who, thanks to the courageous decision to produce organically since 1999, are now standard pioneers of the artisanal movement in Romagna. The soils are clay and limestone, a morphological composition the area shares with other major wine regions, and are rich in Spungone, a calcareous sandstone rock that gives the terroir its uniqueness.
Stefano and Lidia manage grassy vineyards worked organically and have been following biodynamic principles since 2018, limiting the use of synthetic products even more. The wines of Tenuta La Viola are very representative of their terroir: colorful, with great freshness and longevity.
The undisputed protagonists are Sangiovese and Albana, with which the winery produces both light, drinkable wines and bottles of great depth.
