Winery Description:
Tenute Guicciardini Strozzi is one of Tuscany’s oldest wineries, with winemaking roots dating back to 994. Located at the historic Tenuta di Cusona near the medieval town of San Gimignano, the estate covers 530 hectares. It is run by the descendants of influential Italian and European families, including the 15th-generation descendants of Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, known as Mona Lisa. The winery produces wines with handpicked, carefully sorted grapes, which are vinified in concrete tanks and steel autoclaves. Aging takes place in ancient cellars in barriques and bottles. Guicciardini Strozzi specializes in Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing 22 wine varieties. The iconic Vernaccia di San Gimignano, first produced in 1200, has earned praise from figures like Dante and Michelangelo.
