• Keeping alive a tradition initiated by the Romans over 2000 years ago, the José de Sousa winery is equipped with 114 clay amphorae, a fermentation method as rare as it is old.
• There is also a new winery equipped with 44 stainless steel vats and all the essential technology for making red and white wines.
• This is the perfect place to witness the marriage of old and new and to learn more about some exceptional wines.
The guided tour begins in our educational vineyard, where we introduce you to the main grape varieties we use in our wines.
We continue in the modern winery, which has 44 stainless steel tanks, and also in the archaeology room, where we show you all the archaeological remains discovered at Herdade do Monte da Ribeira, including a Menhir measuring almost 5 metres.
We end in the magnificent Adega dos Potes, a unique winery from 1878, where we preserve and use some of the 114 clay pots to produce our most special wines.
After the tour, we will have a tasting of 3 premium red wines.
